Stockport County have brought in the seasoned left-back Danny Andrew on a one-month contract.
The 34-year-old left Cambridge United after his contract ended earlier this summer and has now joined Dave Challinor’s team following an impressive trial during a pre-season friendly against Salford City.
Andrew’s career spans 17 years with 570 appearances, including his longest stint of four seasons at Fleetwood Town between 2019 and 2023 – that was actually his second time playing there at Highbury.
Stockport have been short on options at left-back after Ibou Touray moved to Bradford and Ryan Rydel went out on loan to Exeter. So far, the only new arrival has been Tayo Edun, but unfortunately he’s dealing with what’s expected to be a lengthy injury layoff.
Challinor told the club website, external: “He comes at an important time, and we feel his experience, leadership and adaptability of playing in different positions at this level will be really important over this period.
“The short-term nature of the deal suits everyone at present and we’ll assess things over the period.”
