Mary Ann Gregorchuk, aged 94, from Nipigon, passed away on February 17th, 2026. She was born on January 23rd, 1932 to Francis and Antony Horishney on a farm close to Ladywood, Manitoba. In 1949, Mary married George and together they raised four boys: Daniel, Michael, Steven, and William (Billy).
Mary enjoyed taking part in pretty much every event happening in Red Rock and Nipigon. This included the Fishing Festival and weekly bingo nights. She was even the oldest person to walk in the Hike for Health. Her proudest moment was being crowned Blueberry Queen at the Blueberry Blast. Another favorite activity was going to the Senior supper because she really loved dancing. For many years she also belonged to both the Horticultural Society and the Red Rock Golden Club.
She lost her parents Francis and Antony before her, as well as her brothers Casimir and William along with half siblings Paul, Helen and Rose. Her husband George passed away before her too, along with sons Michael and Daniel.
Mary leaves behind her sons Steve and Billy who will miss her greatly. Also surviving are her granddaughter Terry (Mike), step-granddaughter Colleen (Shane), plus great-grandchildren Emma, Ethan, Jordyn, Charlotte and Max.
A private burial will take place this spring at Cliffside Cemetery.
Everyone is welcome to join us for a Celebration of Life at the Red Rock Legion on Saturday May 9th from 1pm until 4pm.
