Edgar Robert Ladouceur Obituary May 7, 2026

Edgar Robert Ladouceur from Spencerville, Ontario, passed away quietly on May 7, 2026, at Brockville General Hospital after a brief stay. He was 82 years old and had been dealing with declining health for several years.

Ed is survived by his wife Annalee (Richardson), to whom he was married for 57 years. He was a proud dad to Emma Ladouceur of Charlottetown. Also surviving him are his brother-in-law Bill Richardson; Bill’s wife Lisa (Shuey); sister-in-law Katy Richardson-all from Miami-and many nieces and nephews. Ed also acted as a father figure to Perry Dillabaugh of Kemptville, Erin Marriner from Whistler, and Jeff Marriner of South Mountain.

He was predeceased by his parents Aldema and Juliette (Thivierge) Ladouceur, along with his siblings Alban, Marcelle, and Thelma.

Ed grew up on Maple Lane in Ottawa’s Lindenlea neighborhood where he made close friends who stayed important throughout his life. He met Annalee at a Grey Cup party back in December 1968; they got engaged the following Valentine’s Day and tied the knot by June 1969. Their fast-paced romance lasted 57 years-the bride, groom and their wedding crew were totally Woodstock-era stylish. They wed in St. Thomas, Ontario-Annalee’s hometown. Their first home together was an old Orange Lodge in Pierces Corners where they weathered the blizzard of ’71. Later on, they moved to South Mountain where they loved their stone house and community life; here they tried farming with horses, cattle, chickens as well as beekeeping and homing pigeons. Eventually they settled into a log house in Spencerville where Emma grew up. Ed worked through the years in various farming-related businesses across Eastern Ontario including farm machinery sales, fertilizer supply, tile drainage systems, and soybean production.

In Spencerville Annalee, Ed and Emma found lifelong friends around Shanly neighborhood while supporting lots of local events together. Traveling was something the family really enjoyed too – Key Biscayne and Miami were frequent stops visiting relatives there. Ed especially loved going to France; he took many trips around Europe with Annalee plus close friends or family members over time. Whenever Emma lived abroad they made sure to spend plenty of quality time together during her visits back home.

Ed had a creative side – he dabbled in painting, writing poems, taking photos and putting words down on paper now and then. He liked making wine alongside his buddies Mike and Tom too! Reading books fascinated him just like cooking did; entertaining guests at their place brought both him & Annalee great joy over the years as well. Plus Ed adored all the pets who shared their lives along the way.

Annalee and Emma want to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr Loan Luong along with staff at Kemptville District Hospital & Brockville General Hospital plus Ontario Health at Home team as well as dear friends & family for all their care throughout Ed’s final days.

If you’d like to honor Ed’s memory donations can be made instead of flowers to Beth Donovan Hospice or either Kemptville District Hospital or Brockville General Hospital.
