The police are reaching out to the public for any tips about five people they think were involved in the kidnapping and death of a 40-year-old man in Guelph, Ontario.

On Wednesday, the Wellington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) got a call around 6 p. m. about a crash between two vehicles on Hanlon Parkway, north of Stone Road.

They found a man at the scene suffering from serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital by ambulance but sadly passed away later.

Officers discovered that he was from Cambridge, Ontario, and they believe this incident involved more than just a simple crash.

In an official statement, OPP said this man had been “assaulted, kidnapped and abducted” from a home on Fife Road in Guelph by five suspects traveling in two different vehicles.

The police are now looking for a white 2013 Dodge RAM pickup truck with Ontario licence plate BZ 85153. The other vehicle connected to the case is described as a grey 2010 Toyota Venza SUV.

The OPP said they think this was an isolated event. The Wellington County Crime Unit along with Guelph Police Service are teaming up with OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch, Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service on this case.

They’re asking anyone who lives or works nearby to check their security cameras and send any relevant images or videos to the OPP.

If you drove through that area or saw what happened, please look over your dash cam footage-you might have caught something important related to the crash or these vehicles.

Anyone with information should get in touch with Wellington County OPP or contact Crime Stoppers.
