A driver from Cambridge is one of five people who died after a crash in Norwich Township.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrived at the scene around 3 p. m. on March 31, where Highway 59 meets Quaker Street.
An SUV and a transport truck were involved in the collision.
The SUV’s driver, a 39-year-old man from Cambridge, was pronounced dead right there at the scene. Two passengers riding with him-a 13-year-old and a 17-year-old from Tillsonburg-also lost their lives.
Two more passengers were rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On April 9, OPP confirmed that those two individuals, aged 46 and 21 from Tillsonburg, had passed away due to their injuries.
“I just want to take this opportunity to send all my deepest and sincerest condolences to everybody that’s been affected by this tragedy,” said Sgt. Ed Sanchuk. “To all family and friends, you’re in our thoughts.”
The truck driver was unharmed in the accident.
Sanchuk added that after looking into what happened, no charges will be filed and no more details will be shared publicly.
