At least one person was injured during a shooting on Memorial Drive in Cambridge Monday afternoon, officials said.
Cambridge police reported getting 911 calls about gunfire near the River Street intersection around 1:30 p. m. Massachusetts State Police described it as a “police-involved shooting” involving troopers, though they didn’t share more information.
Emergency responders treated “at least one individual” for gunshot wounds, according to the statement from the agency.
“No information is immediately available regarding the circumstances of the shooting,” State Police added.
The Harvard University Police Department said it heard from Cambridge police that an armed person had fired shots near that intersection, “possibly injuring two victims.”
“The suspect is in custody,” Harvard police said. “There is no ongoing threat to the campus.”
Cambridge police told people to stay away from the area but assured there’s no current danger to the public.
