Police have charged two men from Kitchener following a probe into a Cambridge chop shop where they found 18 stolen vehicles.

Back in March, Waterloo Regional Police Service’s (WRPS) break and enter, auto theft, and robbery unit – known as BEAR – started looking into this illegal vehicle dismantling operation.

On Thursday, officers carried out search warrants at a place on Eagle Street in Cambridge and also at a home in Kitchener.

The police said many of those 18 stolen cars were taken apart for parts.

A 51-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both living in Kitchener, face charges including possession of property obtained by crime, trafficking stolen goods, and fraud over $5,000.

The two men were held while waiting for their bail hearing.

If anyone has any info, they’re asked to reach out to the police or Crime Stoppers.
