It’s with heavy hearts that Ingrid Krause’s family shares her passing at age 86.
She was born in Germany and moved to Canada in 1975 with her husband Hans and their two kids, Jens and Agnes, ready to start fresh. They bought a dairy farm in Bruce Mines and spent 13 wonderful years working it together as a family. After selling the farm, they headed to London, Ontario to try out some new things. Then in 2008, they came back to Thessalon – the place they always felt truly at home.
Ingrid had many roles throughout her life-she worked as a realtor with Royal Le Page, was an active member of Cloudslee UCW, and helped out as a nanny and house cleaner. But what she loved most were being a wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma.
If anyone needed sewing done, Ingrid was the one they turned to. She also gained quite the reputation for baking amazing treats. For years you’d find her cheering loudly at local rinks for her youngest grandson. And she was a die-hard Maple Leafs fan through thick and thin.
She leaves behind her husband of 64 years Hans; son Jens and his wife Theresa; daughter Agnes and her husband Brad; grandchildren Celicia (Brad), Jarek, Kiriana (James), Maddi (Macgregor), Spencer (Autumn), Ashley (Craig), Devon (Teaghan); goddaughter Andrea Krause; great-grandkids Carson, Maeley, Calvin – plus one more on the way; along with many other family members she held close like her own.
We can’t thank enough the caring staff at Algoma Manor Palliative Care Unit for their amazing support. Instead of flowers please consider donating to keep this service running locally. Also huge thanks go out to all the PSWs and nurses who cared so lovingly for mom both at home and during her final days-you know who you are.
As per Ingrid’s wishes there won’t be any service right now.
