We Make Cool Things in Cambridge, Ontario: Space Technology

Did you know that around 80 percent of all communications satellites orbiting Earth have Honeywell parts inside? Before these parts make it to space, a lot of the work happens right here at Honeywell’s facility in Cambridge, Ontario.

This Cambridge location stands out because it handles so many different products and has all the skills needed under one roof. For over 40 years, they’ve been working hand-in-hand with space agencies to design, build, and test special instruments for major missions like the International Space Station, Hubble Space Telescope, and the James Webb Space Telescope.

The site covers everything from start to finish – writing proposals, designing parts, machining, plating, putting everything together, integrating systems, testing them thoroughly, and finally delivering the finished products.

“One of the most exciting aspects of working in the aerospace technologies environment is the unique products and mission applications we are constantly involved in,” said Joseph Kane, senior plant director at the Cambridge site. “Many new technologies are being developed and applied for space applications, and the number of missions is rapidly increasing. These are very exciting times to be a world leader in this market.”

Check out the video above for some cool moments from our team at Cambridge. It shows how Honeywell’s innovations are pushing forward important tech and tools that make these space missions possible.
