February 14, 1953 – January 1, 2026
Our mom, Sharon Bryenton, was really gifted at writing. Sadly, she’s now gone off to dance in Heaven and left us with this job.
Sharon was the favorite child of Richard and Beatrice Ferguson. She came into the world on February 14, 1953 – a day all about love. Her older brother Dale might see it differently, but she always thought he was pretty great. Truth is though, her baby brother Randy was the one who really captured her heart.
As a kid, Sharon had plenty of spirit. She used to tell stories about how she kept Beatrice on her toes.
We’re really grateful for all the friends she called family. Over time she gathered friends like treasures and held onto them tight.
Sharon wore many hats in life, but by far her favorite role was being Terry Bryenton’s wife. They tied the knot on June 28 – I’m guessing back in ’72 since that’s when my sister arrived (just five months later). They shared 53 years together as best friends. He stood up for her and protected her. And if you asked mom about him she’d say “He was quite the catch.”
She had two daughters who took after her-smart and beautiful: Tracy (Chris) Blackmon and Terri (Greg) Nicholson.
Like lots of moms from her time, Sharon parented like wild dogs were running loose – just smiling as they raced by hoping nothing got broken. She taught those girls never to back down and to chase after fun and laughter wherever they could find it. If you asked our mom what made her proudest she’d say it was her grandkids: Connor, Ellie, Charlotte and Declan. They knew they had the proudest grandma around.
Mom had lots of people who loved her deeply. To Jennifer and Aaron – thanks for loving her like your own daughters. Thanks also to Christina (and Ella) for standing by mom’s side these last nineteen years.
If you ever met Sharon consider yourself lucky – life’s too short not to use your best dishes or dance anytime you want no matter who’s watching.
We want to thank everyone at Unit 1A at TBRHSC – especially RNs Bella, Kirby and Hilary plus Dr. Quon for their kindness and hard work.
Cremation has already taken place. There’ll be a visitation from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at the Salvation Army Church on Thursday, January 8th, 2026. If you’d like to honor Sharon please consider donating to Muscular Dystrophy Canada at muscle. ca
