Mary "Eva" Evangeline Joiner Obituary April 9, 2026

Mary Evangeline Joiner, who everyone called Eva, passed away quietly on April 9, 2026, at Muskoka Landing Long Term Care. She had been dealing with dementia for quite some time and was surrounded by her family’s love when she died. Eva was born on August 31, 1944, in Huntsville, Ontario. She spent her life deeply caring for both her family and the community around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Allan Joiner, who died January 19, 2014. They were married for 38 years and shared a strong bond. Eva also lost her children Linda (Gary) Schamehorn and Peggy (Bill) Yearley before she passed. Her grandson Jack Yearley went ahead of her too. Her sisters Fay (Gary) Wignall and Mabel (Ted) Daultrey also passed away earlier.

Left to remember Eva are her children Edward (Shari) Joiner, Terry (Marcia) Joiner, Lee (Brian) Boothby, Rick Hopcraft, and Deb (Reg) Cameron. She was very proud of all her grandchildren: Deanna, Cory, Mary-Lyn, Shawn, Adam, Jamie, Sarah, Allan, Shy, Candace-Rose, Becca, Megan, Abbey, Bella and Jack. There are also fourteen great-grandchildren who brought a lot of joy to Eva’s later years. She enjoyed close relationships with her sisters Sharon (Fred) Daultrey and Sheila (Al) Cowdell as well as her brother Alvin Young.

The family will hold a visitation to celebrate Eva’s life on April 16th from noon until one o’clock at Billingsley Funeral Home located at 430 Ravenscliffe Road in Huntsville. Following that is a funeral service starting at one o’clock right there at the same place. Evelyn Coker will lead the service. In springtime Eva will be laid to rest at Madill Cemetery. A reception will take place after the service as well. Instead of flowers it would mean a lot if donations were made to Hospice Huntsville in memory of Eva.

Mary Evangeline Joiner leaves behind many people who cared for her deeply; she lived through challenges but always kept kindness close by. Everyone who knew her will remember how strong she was and how much she cared about those around her.
