Lloyd William Sitch - Obituary - Northwest Ontario

With heavy hearts, Lloyd William Sitch’s family shares that he passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026.

Lloyd was born in Port Arthur and grew up in O’Connor Township before settling for many years in Westfort. He met his wife Gloria at a dance, and they tied the knot on February 13, 1960. Just recently, they marked an amazing 66 years together. They raised four sons – Bradley, Leonard, Robert, and Wayne – in a home full of love.

Lloyd had a knack for teaching and mentoring others. He taught himself many skills over time and happily passed that knowledge on to his sons, grandkids, and anyone who got lucky enough to learn from him.

His door was always open; coffee was brewing; you could count on a game of Yahtzee or cribbage ready to go; and there was always good chat around the table. Lloyd loved hunting and fishing too – going on lots of trips with close pals Ron and Tom, his brother Garry, plus his sons and grandsons. He also cared deeply about gardening and took pride in growing the biggest potatoes in the neighborhood.

He started out working at Great Lakes Forest Products and Canadian Car before branching out to run his own business called Lloyd’s Backhoe Service.

Lloyd leaves behind his wife Gloria; sons Bradley, Robert, Wayne (with Maureen); daughter-in-law Debbie; siblings George Sitch (Audrey), Joan Strugal (Ed), Lorraine Acheson (John); plus grandchildren Dawn, Cathy, Lucas, Nicole, Matthew, Cody, Amber, Brandi, Douglas, and Kyle. His great-grandchildren along with nieces and nephews will miss him too.

He was preceded in death by his son Leonard; parents Alfred and Alice Sitch; siblings Marion Otway (De Corte), Kenneth Sitch, Garry Sitch, and Bernice Smith.

Cremation has been completed. Plans for a celebration of Lloyd’s life will be announced later.
