Arno Antoni Kozlowski - Obituary - Northwest Ontario

Mr. Arno Antoni Kozlowski, aged 75, passed away early in the morning on March 16th after dealing with a long illness.

He was born in Fort William (now known as Thunder Bay) on June 18, 1950, and was the oldest of three siblings. He went to school nearby-starting at S. S.#5 School in Rosslyn Village Paipoonge, then Westgate C. V. I., and later Confederation College.

Arno spent many years working for Thunder Bay Telephone and retired as Supervisor of Network Engineering and Operations.

When he was younger, Arno liked camping, gardening, and fishing-especially at Davis Point. He loved chatting with people and playing chess, always cracking jokes. He also served as a Cub and Scout leader with the 1st Paipoonge group for many years as “Baloo,” sticking around even after his own kids moved on from Scouting. He was always eager to teach but also learn along the way. It’s through Scouting that he first met Heather Rowe; they became partners some years later.

Arno is survived by his son Michael Kozlowski; stepsons Steven (Erika Ziraldo) Rowe and Timothy (Heather Johnson) Rowe; grandchildren Charlotte, Hayley, Violet, Tora, and Sibley; sister Rosemarie (Lawrence); plus other close family members including many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Antoni and Aune Kozlowski; his son Matthew Kozlowski; and his longtime partner Heather who passed in 2013.

Cremation has been done already and a celebration of life will happen sometime soon.

The family wants to thank all the wonderful staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Care Group for being so caring towards Arno over these past few years.

Arrangements are being handled by Simpler Times Cremation Centre at 575 Central Avenue in Thunder Bay.
