Police have arrested suspects after a man with what appeared to be a gun tried to rob the Amazon fulfilment centre in Cambridge.
The Waterloo regional police say the incident took place around 10:40 Sunday morning near Maple Grove Road and Cherry Blossom Road.
Just after noon, officers warned people to stay clear of the area while they searched for someone who might be armed. They say a man went into a business there, tried to steal stuff, and showed a firearm to the employees.
He then ran off in a car that was waiting outside. Fortunately, no one got hurt during all this.
Later on, police confirmed to 570 News Radio that it was indeed the Amazon site involved.
The officers caught up with the suspect close by and found out the gun was actually a fake one.
Authorities say two men were taken into custody – one’s 27 from Cambridge, and the other is 23 from Kitchener.
The charges haven’t been made public yet as both wait for their bail hearings.
The Amazon location is right at the same intersection where Regional Police headquarters sit.
