Ontario Provincial Police reported that one person died and several others were hurt in a head-on crash between two cars in Hamilton on Saturday.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 6:45 a. m. There were two people in one car and five in the other, according to OPP’s news release.

The passenger in the first car was declared dead at the scene, police said. The others were taken to hospital with injuries that have not been specified, and one person was flown out by Air Ornge.

As of 10:10 a. m., Highway 8 is closed between Safari Road and Studiman Road, said OPP.

Drivers should check OPP’s social media for updates since the road is expected to stay closed for several hours.

If anyone has info or dashcam footage, they’re asked to reach out to police or Crime Stoppers.
