Earlier this month, ten individuals were arrested on drug-related charges during an RCMP investigation in Iqaluit.
Between October 11 and 15, police searched eight residences and seized drugs, weapons, and cash, according to a news release from the RCMP on Friday.
The accused range in age from 31 to 67 and face several charges including possession with intent to traffic, drug trafficking, possessing proceeds of crime, conspiracy to traffic drugs, and possession of prohibited weapons.
The RCMP did not provide details about the types or amounts of drugs or weapons found. They also didn’t say when those charged will be brought before the court.
These raids are part of ongoing efforts aimed at stopping drug trafficking and keeping communities safe, the release said.
