August 18, 1943 – May 23, 2026
Roy Joseph Diana, a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend, passed away quietly on May 23, 2026, surrounded by his family’s love.
He was born in Fort William to Gilberto and Rose Diana. Roy’s life was built on hard work and family values. He started working on the waterfront in 1963 and joined the Thunder Bay Grain Trimmers in 1975. After half a century of service on the docks, he retired in 2013.
Roy married Simone Allard on August 6, 1966-his partner for over 59 years. Together they raised two daughters, Jennifer and Joelle, filling their home on Government Road with many special memories that he helped create.
In his free time, Roy loved farming as a hobby, fixing up houses, traveling by cruise ship, going to country concerts, and spending winters down south where it was warm. He especially enjoyed cheering for his daughters at horse shows. His grandchildren Travis, Madison, and Juliet were also a big source of happiness for him.
Though he faced several health issues over time, Roy kept living life fully and appreciated every moment spent with those close to him.
He was an active member of Corpus Christi Parish with a particular devotion to St. Jude.
Roy leaves behind his wife Simone; daughters Jennifer Fisher and Joelle (John) Macey; grandchildren Madison (Dalton) and Juliet; brother Guy (Leslie); sisters Norma (Danny) Barro and Mary; along with his loyal dogs Kassie and Princess plus many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother- and father-in-law Bud and Jane Burnell; sister- and brother-in-law Jack and Eloise Kingswood; brothers-in-law Buster and Art Burnell; grandson Travis Giertuga; son-in-law Lewis Fisher.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to RNs Julius and Paula from Bayshore Home Care; Drs David Probizanski, Kristina Pulkki, Mohammed Ibrahim & Margret Anthes; Curran’s Heart Centre staff including the doctors & nurses from unit 2C & ICU team; also Father Terry Sawchuk.
Cremation has been completed. A Funeral Mass will take place Saturday June 13th at 11:00 am at Corpus Christi R. C. Church officiated by Rev. Terry Sawchuk. Family & friends can visit one hour before the service starts. Burial will be arranged later at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum.
If desired donations may be made to the Northern Cancer Fund in memory of Roy.
