Irma Tuulikki Brown Obituary - Basic Funerals and Cremation Choices

Irma Tuulikki Brown (Nee Puumalainen) March 12, 1952 to May 1, 2026

After a long illness and surrounded by family, Irma Tuulikki Brown (nee Puumalainen) passed away quietly on Friday, May 1st, 2026 at THP/Mississauga Hospital in her 74th year. She fought bravely against chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis early on and later faced Alzheimer’s Dementia and Delirium.

Having called Mississauga home since 1987, she leaves behind her husband Daniel; her brother Osmo (Ulla) Puumalainen from Cambridge; sister Anja Koivisto also from Cambridge; brothers-in-law Ronald (Catherine) Brown of Owen Sound and James (Liana) Brown of Hanover. She was preceded in death by her parents Veikko and Kerttu Puumalainen, siblings Arja and Onni Puumalainen-all from Lahti, Finland-and her parents-in-law Gordon and Eileen Brown of Paisley, Ontario. Her many dear uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins both in Canada and Finland will miss her greatly.

Tuulikki arrived in Toronto back in ’74 with an adventurous spirit that made being around her a pleasure. Her sweet nature won over many people during more than three decades working in the Canadian travel industry across Vancouver, Toronto and beyond.

We want to thank all the doctors, nurses, personal care aides and staff at Brunel Day Care Program as well as Nora’s House Respite Care for their kind support through the years-including recent care at THP/Mississauga Hospital.

If you’d like to honor Irma’s memory instead of sending flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer Society of Peel or Trillium Health Partners Foundation.

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday July 11th, 2026 at Mississauga City Baptist Church at 3534 Cawthra Road between 1:00 and 4:00 PM

“I Am Held in His Light”Do not grieve as though I’m lost, For I am held in His embrace. The One who gave me life on earth, Has called me to a brighter place. My pain is gone, my soul is free, I rest where peace will never end. And in His love, I’ve found my home, Where broken hearts begin to mend. Though you may weep and miss me still, Do not let sorrow dim your way. For God now holds me close in light, And walks beside you every day. We are not parted, not for long, His promise keeps us strong and true. And when He calls, we’ll meet again- In endless love, made whole, made new.
