Students from a Cambridge school took part in celebrating an important step in the build of a five-storey sports centre.
The Stephen Perse Foundation, which runs six independent schools around Cambridge and Saffron Walden, is putting up this new facility at its Senior School on Union Lane in Cambridge.
Teachers, students, and designers all came together yesterday (May 16) to celebrate the ‘topping out’ moment of the project.
Six kids signed a wooden beam before it was lifted up to the highest point of the building.

Designed by Chadwick Dryer Clarke architects, this new sports hub will have astro turf right on its roof plus a huge multi-use hall down below in the basement.
According to the schools, there’ll also be eight flexible spaces made to spark creativity, teamwork and active learning.
Once finished, local state schools along with community groups and sports clubs will also be able to use it.
