Local humane societies 'critically low' on donations for pet pantries

The local humane societies are running low on pet pantry supplies and are reaching out to the community for donations.

These pet pantries support families who are having a hard time financially by providing essential pet food and supplies, helping keep pets with their owners.

On social media, the Humane Society of Kitchener-Waterloo and Stratford Perth shared, “Starting now, we may need to provide smaller portions, and clients are still limited to visiting once every four weeks.”

They added that their shelves have become “critically low.”

Both groups are mainly asking for dry dog or cat food. They also welcome money donations so they can buy what’s needed.

The Cambridge and District Humane Society posted online that their supplies are running short too.

“Our Emergency Pet Food Bank is running very low on supplies, and we need your help to make sure we can continue supporting pets and families in our community.”

They said smaller bags of dry pet food work best since some clients rely on public transit to pick up the donations.
