It is with great sorrow and much love that the family of David Norman Kijanen, who was lovingly called “Davey” or “Dave”, share the news of his unexpected passing on April 4, 2026, at age 56.
David came into this world on March 1st, 1970, right here in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He was a dear son, dad, brother, uncle, and friend who showed kindness to so many people around him.
People will remember Dave for being generous and warm-hearted. He loved life and adventure. He was always friendly and made everyone feel comfortable. Dave had this amazing way of making folks feel noticed and cared for no matter who they were.
He leaves behind his daughter Kaitlyn – truly the joy of his life; his mother Leena, who gave him endless love; his brothers and sisters Carmen, Heli, Leena, Ian and Hollis; nieces Shantay, Faith and Grace; Sharon (Kaitlyn’s mom); his brother-in-law Gerry; plus lots of other family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his dad Unto.
We find some comfort knowing that David has passed through Heaven’s gates to rest peacefully with God forever. It helps our hearts to hold onto the hope we’ll see Dave again someday in eternal life.
