Terrence “Terry” Joseph Mahoney came into this world on August 9, 1955, in Nipigon, Ontario. He was the son of the late Daisy and John Dennis Mahoney. Terry left us at age 70 on April 14, 2026, at the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was a caring husband and father, and a proud grandfather too. Terry is survived by his wife Lynn, their son Steven, and granddaughter Shiera; also by his brothers Dennis (Mary), Jack (Debbie), and Kevin (Rose); plus sisters-in-law Ilona, Rita and Kathy. He was preceded in death by his sister Kathy as well as his parents John (Chic) and Daisy Mahoney.
Terry had lots of interests beyond plumbing and heating-the trade he spent most of his working life in-and he loved reading about all sorts of topics. Around town, folks knew him as someone who was always quick to help out anyone-friends or strangers alike.
Following Terry’s wishes, there won’t be any formal funeral or memorial service. Family and friends are encouraged to remember him however feels right to them-whether that’s through kind deeds or supporting causes that mattered to him.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre – Cancer Care and Nipigon District Memorial Hospital for their years of care, kindness and support during Terry’s fight with cancer.
He leaves behind many warm memories that will be held dear by everyone who knew him.
