Cambridge United have brought in former Manchester City forward Ben Knight, signing him for one year.
The 22-year-old was without a club after parting ways with Real Murcia, who play in Spain’s third tier, back in February.
Knight made just one senior appearance for Manchester City, coming off the bench during their 2021 Charity Shield loss to Leicester. He also only got on the pitch four times as a substitute during his short six months at Real Murcia.
Before that, the ex-Ipswich Town youth player had a loan spell in League One with Crewe Alexandra in 2021. He returned to England towards the end of last season and spent some time trialing at Cambridge before agreeing to sign.
“Although it’s been a difficult period recently for me, I can’t say enough about how well the club have looked after me and I am determined to repay them now with my performances on the pitch,” Knight told the U’s website., external
