A 37-year-old man from Cambridge was arrested and is now facing multiple charges, including second-degree murder, related to a deadly shooting that took place in November 2024.

Waterloo regional police took the man into custody on Wednesday. The charges include second-degree murder, attempted murder, and breach of probation.

On Nov. 27, 2024, police and emergency responders rushed to the area around Lena Crescent and Pamela Lane after getting reports of gunfire.

At the scene, officers found a 40-year-old Cambridge man who had been shot; he was declared dead right there.

Another man, aged 31 from Cambridge, was also discovered outside a residence with gunshot wounds. He was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said at the time they couldn’t confirm how the two men were connected but did know they knew each other. They also described it as a targeted shooting.

Authorities have said they don’t expect any further arrests as part of their ongoing investigation.
