Cambridge United have taken Gillingham forward Elliott Nevitt on loan until the season wraps up.
The 29-year-old has netted three times in 24 matches this term and featured against Cambridge during their 1-1 draw on Boxing Day.
He started out playing non-league football around Liverpool before stepping into the EFL with Tranmere Rovers back in 2021, after scoring a hat-trick for Warrington Rylands 1906 at Wembley in the FA Vase Final.
Nevitt arrives at a Cambridge team unbeaten in their last 11 games and said: “The club is on a good run and their ambitions are my ambitions. I want to be at the right end of the league, fighting for something.
“I know it’s going to be hard to get into the team when everyone is going well, but that’s what you want – you can tell it’s a good place to be.”
Currently sitting sixth, Cambridge will host Tranmere this Saturday aiming for their fourth straight win.
On signing Nevitt, manager Neil Harris commented: “He adds real competition and energy to the front line, and I believe he’s a very good fit for us.”
