Looks like folks at Road Trek Inc. in Cambridge won’t be back on the line just yet.
Since April 7, about 80 employees at this camper van maker have been temporarily laid off, after getting a heads-up the previous Friday.
The union for these workers, Unifor Local 1106, told 570 News Radio last week that the layoffs tie back to all the mess in the auto industry with U. S. tariffs hanging over everyone’s heads.
This week, the union updated that the layoffs will now stretch out until April 21.
Again, they pointed to those U. S. tariffs as the root cause and said they’re committed to fighting for Canadian jobs and workers.
570 News Radio has tried contacting Road Trek several times for their take. So far, no word back as of when this was published.
