Wayne Faulconer, aged 78, from Thunder Bay, Ontario, died suddenly on December 28, 2025.
He was born on May 12, 1947, in Keewatin, Ontario. Growing up surrounded by fiddlers and lively family jam sessions sparked his lifelong love for music. He later formed his own bands and became a part of the bustling Winnipeg music scene before touring all over Canada.
Wayne eventually made Thunder Bay his home where he had a busy career performing with groups like the Jarvis Street Review, Stoneridge, and the Wayne Faulconer Band. His song Sweet Eyed Satin Lady earned nominations at the Canadian Country Music Awards in 1981 for Outstanding Vocal Performance and Single of The Year. Then in 1982, his band Stone Ridge was nominated for Canadian Country Group of the Year. Many people respected him as a talented musician and an elder figure in Thunder Bay’s music community.
Besides music, Wayne was skilled as an electrician, alarm system expert, and sound technician. He spent many years working at Miskelly’s Electronics before starting his own business called W. F. Comspec.
He leaves behind his daughter Casandra Faulconer along with other family members and lots of friends who will miss him greatly.
The details about a memorial service will be shared once they’re set; it’s expected to happen sometime in February.
If you’d like to make a donation in memory of Wayne, please consider the Northern Cardiac Fund at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.
