Sandy Herron - Obituary - Northwest Ontario

November 17, 1964 – January 6, 2026

We are heartbroken to share that our dear Sandy passed away suddenly on January 6, 2026, while in Florida.

Sandy was born on November 17, 1964. She grew up in a warm and loving family with her parents James and Shirley and siblings Donna, Jimmy, and Andrew. She always took pride in where she came from and would often say “I’m from Westfort, Ontario!”.

She went to Crawford and Heath Park elementary schools before graduating from Westgate High School in 1982. After trying out a few jobs here and there post-graduation, she found work at Canada Car. But after a couple of years, Sandy started feeling like “I can’t see myself behind this desk for another forty years!” A coworker who noticed how restless she was told her about a college course meant to help figure out your real calling. He suggested they take it together, and since Sandy loved trying new things, she agreed. When the course finished, she realized real estate was the path for her. Without hesitation-and much to her parents’ surprise-she quit her job at twenty-five to become a realtor. And boy did she succeed! She was one of Thunder Bay’s top agents for years running. Her upbeat attitude, friendly nature, and genuine care made her stand out. Many clients even became lifelong friends.

In 2005 Sandy met Frank-the love of her life. They were not only partners in everything but also best friends who enjoyed both the little moments and big adventures alike. Together they traveled extensively and made many wonderful memories. Around 2019 they slowed down a bit and started semi-retiring by spending winters at their Florida home for seven years.

Sandy leaves behind Frank; her mom Shirley; sisters Donna; brothers Jimmy and Andrew. She was preceded in death by dad James as well as grandparents Earl & Gertrude Herron and Alex & Edith Stevenson.

A gathering to celebrate Sandy’s life will be held Thursday May 7th from noon until four pm at the Delta Hotel (2240 Sleeping Giant Pkwy). Tributes will begin at one o’clock.
