June 23, 1937 – April 17, 2026
Mrs. Patricia “Patsy” Annette Hannaford (née Bodner), aged 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospice surrounded by family. She has now joined her dear husband Kenneth and daughter Rosanne once again.
Patricia was born in Fort William, Ontario on June 23, 1937 to Anne (née Hlady) and John Bodner. She went to Crawford School for elementary where she met Kenneth, her childhood sweetheart, back in Grade 3. They finished school together at Fort William Vocational High School. Ken and Patsy got married on August 23, 1958 at Broadway United Church with Rev. Harold Alston officiating – they shared almost 56 years of marriage until Ken passed in 2014. For their 50th anniversary, they renewed their vows with Rev. Jack White.
As a teenager she took part in C. G. I. T., and was also involved with the St. John Nursing Cadets. She liked ice skating and swimming when she was younger too.
Her career as a Stenographer led her to Winnipeg for a while but she returned to Fort William after marrying Ken and continued working at different Royal Bank branches until retirement.
Both Patricia and Kenneth were longtime members of Broadway United Church. They were fans of Daylin James’ Elvis shows through the Daylin James Fan Club – which they enjoyed a lot! Patricia also liked going to her weekly TOPS meetings.
She leaves behind children Lorelei Kawchuk, Sherry Smith (John Reid), Kenneth Jr. (Monique) all from Thunder Bay; Patricia Pollen (Micheal) from Winnipeg; son-in-law Joseph Tropea; grandchildren Dallas, Crystal, Shannon, Gordon, Rocky, Bradley and Faith; great-grandchildren Brianna, Abbigayle, Chloe, Preston, Alexis, Edison (EJ), Madelyn; sisters-in-law Doris and Joyce; plus many nephews nieces and cousins.
Preceding her in death are husband Kenneth; daughter Rosanne Tropea; parents John and Anne Bodner; brother Roy Rodger; grandson Nicholas Holmquist and great-grandson Landon Smith; son-in-law William Kawchuk; parents-in-law Leslie and Elizabeth Hannaford; brothers-in-law Leslie David and Gerald Hannaford; nephew Gerald Hannaford as well as grandparents along with several aunts uncles and extended family members.
The funeral service for Mrs. Patricia Hannaford will take place Wednesday April 22nd at 11:00 AM in the WESTFORT CHAPEL located at 420 West Gore Street near James intersection with Lori Jansekovich officiating. Burial follows afterward at Mountainview Cemetery. Visitors can pay respects Tuesday afternoon between 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM in the chapel.
If friends wish donations in Patricia’s memory could be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation which would mean a lot.
