Obituary of Mirella Spadotto | Windsor Chapel Funeral & Cremation |...

Mirella Spadotto (née Famiglio) quietly passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 94, surrounded by her family who loved her dearly. She was born on October 23, 1931, in Azzano Decimo, Italy to Luigi and Rosina. Growing up with three sisters and many friends and neighbours in Italy, she eventually fell for the boy next door, Giuseppe. They got married and later settled in Windsor, Ontario where they raised their family together.

Mirella had a sharp sense of humour and was quick with a joke. She was a devoted mom and an adored Nonna who loved spending time with her family and sharing wise advice. Her garden was her pride; she grew vegetables that she would cook into delicious pastas and risottos for everyone. Proud of her Italian roots, Mirella was part of the Italian Women’s Club G. Caboto for 68 years. She had a special way of making people feel valued-whether showing them the raspberry bush tucked behind the house or pulling out old photos to tell stories about her life in Italy and Canada.

Family meant everything to Mirella. She adored her children Eros (Lisa) and Denise (Paul Greco), and was the loving Nonna to Nicole, David, and Gioia. She cherished daily phone calls and weekly visits with them all. Also surviving are nephews Ivo (Shirley) and Lou (Charlene), whom she treated like extra sons; her sister Guerrina; plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her parents, sisters Cila and Iole, along with her husband Giuseppe predeceased her.

Mirella cared deeply about those around her-family, friends, faith alike. She showed kindness all the time but also had real strength inside. Although she’s now reunited with God and Giuseppe above, what she shared-the stories told over meals or old pictures-and all the love given will stick around long after she’s gone.

Visitation is set for Thursday January 8th at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) located at 1700 Tecumseh Rd E (519-253-7234). Times are from 2:00-5:00pm & then again from 7:00-9:00pm with parish prayers at 4:30pm. The funeral service will be Friday January 9th starting at 9:00 am from the chapel followed by Funeral Mass at St. Angela Merici Church at 9:30 am. Burial follows at Windsor Memorial Gardens. Instead of flowers please consider donations to St Angela Merici Church or Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation as a kind gesture of sympathy.
