With heavy hearts, we share that our dear mother, Angela Vorkapich, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on February 27, 2026. She has now joined her husband Mike again after 62 years of marriage.
Angela was born on August 21, 1939, to Steve and Smilja Daich. She was the loving mom to Steve (Mary), Patricia Makaric (Brian), Millicent Hill (Jim), Nada Orshinsky (Dave), and Mike (Michele). She was also a proud Baba to Tyler; Brock (Arielle) and Brianna (Jeremy) Makaric; James, Steven, and Meghan Hill; Nicholas (Sara), Alexander (Jordanne), and Matthew Orshinsky; plus Michael, Edward, and Angelina Vorkapich.
She was preceded in death by her brother Gojko (Ljubica) Daich and brother-in-law Steve (Millie) Vorkapich. Many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who knew her will miss her dearly.
Angela loved sharing her cooking skills with anyone who came by or needed some comfort. Her apple strudel, pies, walnut torte, apple squares, soup, kolac-and especially her warm homemade krofne-made many get-togethers special. Whether she was cooking or sewing at her machine, Angela had this way of making any moment-good or bad-a bit brighter.
The thing she loved most was raising her kids and even more so spending time with her grandkids. Baking cookies together or reading stories curled up on the couch were moments she treasured deeply. To Angela, those simple times with grandchildren were truly the greatest gifts.
The family would like to thank all of her caregivers for their kindness and support during this time.
Visitation is set for Friday, March 6, 2026 at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – Banwell Chapel (11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7235) from 2-5 p. m. and again from 7-9 p. m., with prayers at 8 p. m. The funeral service will be held Saturday morning at Grachanica Serbian Orthodox Church (1960 Meldrum Road) starting at 10 a. m., followed by burial at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
