Obituary | Elizabeth Anne Smith (nee. Baxter)

Our dear mom, Elizabeth Anne Smith (nee Baxter), quietly passed away on January 7, 2026, at Park Lane Terrace in Paris, Ontario, just a few months before turning 84. She joined her husband Frank who passed in 2022. Anne leaves behind her siblings and her loving daughter Karen with her husband John, along with son David and his wife Lauren. She was a proud grandma to Ashley, Matthew, Harrison, Marshall, and Amelie – all of whom she loved so much. Her parents Anne (Bonnie) and James (Jim/Gabby) went before her. Anne was the older sister to Donald, Peter and Jim and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Anne was born in Toronto on May 4th, 1942. She had a big heart and gave everything she had for her family. A Registered Nurse here in Ontario, she cared deeply about those around her – especially her kids and grandkids – always sharing life lessons whenever she could. She graduated from Notre Dame high school in Toronto and spent happy years living across Ontario, Alberta and Newfoundland before retiring back in Paris. Above all else she was a mom who showed everyone how to be responsible, humble and kind to others – just a good person through and through. There’s a bit of Anne in all of us: kids, parents or siblings alike. We’re so thankful we got to know her and have everything she gave us.

The funeral arrangements are being handled by DWAYNE D. BUDGELL Funeral Home in Paris. Following Anne’s wishes there won’t be any services held. Big thanks go out to the team at Park Lane Terrace and Brantford General Hospital for their care-it really meant a lot to our family. If you’d like to honor Anne’s memory please consider donating to the Park Lane Terrace Resident’s and Family Council.
