Naomi Duval Obituary | Smith's Funeral Home | 2002

Naomi, a Bright Light in Our Lives.
Naomi came into our family as a newborn baby through adoption. She was truly a blessing – right from the start, she filled our home with so much happiness. Even when she was little, her cheerful and kind spirit made an impact on everyone around her.
When she was just 2 years old, Naomi spent over a year and a half undergoing treatment for a rare cancer. We remember how even in the hospital, she kept smiling and laughing like nothing was wrong.
Her early school days at John Knox Christian showed us her big heart for helping others.
She happily took part in many activities on the Servant Team – things like raking leaves at homes where people were fighting cancer – plus recycling efforts and helping younger kids sort out their problems.
That caring attitude stuck with her through high school too. Naomi was active on the Tech Team – once during sound checks she joked: “Hello, King’s Christian Collegiate, this is Radio Naomi here – it’s a beautiful day! No ‘test, 1,2,3 for Naomi!”
If she saw someone sitting alone at school, she’d invite them to hang out with her group and wouldn’t stop until they joined because she just loved including people freely. Her focus at school wasn’t about grades but about looking out for others first.
She enjoyed building stuff – being part of King’s Robotics Club really fired up her enthusiasm – and dreamed of becoming a mechanical engineer someday. We had lots of fun together putting together all kinds of complicated robot projects.
Naomi also loved playing with the neighborhood kids; our porch and house were often buzzing (and noisy!) with activity thanks to her bringing everyone together-she especially adored younger children.
Through everything Naomi showed what it means to love one another gently like Christ teaches us. We’re super proud of who she was and will miss her so much but find comfort knowing we’ll see each other again one day.
Naomi, you’re now dancing among clouds chasing butterflies with Jesus up there.
We love you.
