Passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at age 76.
Jim was born on April 12, 1949, in Orillia, Ontario to Irene Mc Eachern. He lived most of his life in Orillia with his family and had a long career as a truck driver. In his later years, Jim enjoyed living at Driftwood Beach with his wife and close friends.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Cheryl Mc Eachern (Robertson); stepchildren Martie Giefert (Isabel), Brad Giefert (Lindi), and Angela Giefert (Steven); along with grandchildren Townes Giefert, Wyndham Giefert, Wylie Young, and Elliott Young. Jim is also survived by sisters Mary, Arlene (Robert), and Louise (Keith); brothers-in-law Gary Robertson (Judy), Wayne Andrae, Marilyn Robertson; plus nieces Tammy and Debbie and many others who were dear to him. He was predeceased by his mother Irene Mc Eachern; siblings Sherley, Dennis, Edith; and in-laws Marylou and Murray.
Known as Papa or Uncle Fuzz or even Fred by some, Jim was a kind-hearted man who liked helping others. He loved working with wood, fixing up homes, and spending time at his trailer where he volunteered and played horseshoes or euchre competitively. Baseball was a big part of his life too-he was a true Blue Jays fan.
The family wishes to thank all the wonderful staff at Hospice Wellington for their care.
A summer gathering will be held for family and friends to celebrate Jim’s life. Arrangements are with WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051 / www. wallcustance. com).
Instead of flowers please consider donating to Hospice Wellington-their kindness meant so much during Jim’s last days.
A tree will be planted in memory of James (Jim) R. Mc Eachern in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
