LAMOUREUX, Garry - Obituary - Sudbury

With heavy hearts, we share the sudden loss of Garry Hughes Lamoureux, who thankfully passed away peacefully on March 20th at the age of 80.

Garry was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia and grew up in Virginiatown, Ontario. From a young age, he had a strong work ethic that shaped his whole life. He became a well-known financial advisor in Sudbury, starting Lamoureux Financial and spending many years helping people plan for what lies ahead. For Garry, this wasn’t just a job-it was something he truly cared about. He took great pride in supporting his clients and built meaningful relationships with them over time. Even as he got older, he stayed committed to his work until he finally retired not long ago.

Beyond work, Garry’s true joy was his home-what he called Lamoureux’s love nest-on Frenchman Lake. That place meant everything to him. He put lots of effort into keeping it beautiful and even did tough manual jobs himself like building those amazing rock walls. It really showed who he was: someone who worked hard with his hands and valued the simple satisfaction that comes from caring for something special.

He loved staying active too. Garry enjoyed golfing and curling regularly and had quite the reputation as a sharp billiards player. Plus, music from the 1950s was always playing when you stepped inside his house. And don’t forget the dance floor-he could bust out some pretty impressive moves anytime!

Garry is survived by two daughters: Nadine Sciacca (née Lamoureux) and Monica Lamoureux; also proud grandpa and step-grandpa to Tessia, Daniel, Naomi, Lucas, and Isabella. In his last months, he found happiness with Aurora Groulx-a relationship that brought him real joy and comfort.

He’ll be remembered as a hardworking guy full of energy who loved meeting people and being part of the community. What he built with family and friends will carry on long after him.

His family, friends-and all those clients whose lives he touched-will miss him deeply.

You’re invited to pay respects at Lougheed Funeral Home Hanmer/Capreol Chapel (4605 Michelle Dr, Hanmer) on Thursday, March 26th, 2026 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

If you’d like to honor Garry’s memory through donations they can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Liberal Party of Canada.
