We’re sad to share that Joyce Mary Jewett Szezpanski passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026. She was a caring wife, mom, sister, and aunt who will be missed by everyone who had the chance to know her.
Joyce always looked out for those around her. She met Shaun back in 1981 and they spent 45 great years together. They were lucky to have two wonderful sons, Brenden and Justin, whom she adored. Family time was especially important to Joyce. She worked in accounting at Mc Kellar Hospital and then at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for more than two decades, where people knew her as hardworking and committed.
Joyce leaves behind her husband Shaun Szezpanski; sons Brenden and Justin; sisters Lorraine Jewett (Vic), Loretta Difelice (Tony), Diane Jewett (Don), and Rhonda Jewett Harrison; plus brothers Jim Jewett and Dwayne Jewett (Carol). Many other relatives and friends will also miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and May Jewett; father-in-law Frank Szezpanski; and nephew Shane Fortin.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
The family wants to thank everyone for their kindness and support during this tough time. Joyce’s warmth, strength, and steady love for her family will always stay with us. A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
