Our family is heartbroken to share that Jim Harris passed away on April 22, 2026, in Brantford, Ontario. He was 94 years old. Jim was the loving husband of Susan (Des Rochers) and a proud dad to his children Susan (Dave Howe), David, Monica (Cathy Edison), Paul (Ashley), Anne (Steve Collins), and his late son Michael. He was grandpa to Rachel (Chris Baklinski), Matthew (Kayla), Norah Collins, Willow, and Carter Harris. He also had the joy of being great-grandfather to Rowan, Juniper and Elian Baklinski, and Joseph Howe. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Spencer and Gertrude (Harwood), his first wife Rosanne (O’Connor), son Michael, and brother-and sister-in-law Bob and Pat. He leaves behind sister-in-law Fran O’Connor and brother- and sister-in-law Mike and Judy Sheridan. Born in Windsor, Ontario, he lived across the province before settling in Brantford for the last 58 years. After retiring from corporate work, he ran his own business, Harris Financial, for 25 years.
Jim was a supportive father who always had your back, a devoted husband through thick and thin, a natural leader who guided many people along the way, and above all else-a true friend to everyone he met. His strong faith meant a lot to him; he dedicated much of his time to his church community. The kindness he showed others combined with how much he cared about family will be remembered for years.
Even when dementia started affecting him later on, Jim kept a positive attitude with his usual sense of humor-always making sure folks knew exactly what time it was!
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at St. Pius X Church in Brantford at 11:00 AM followed by a reception at the church hall.
If you’d like to honor Jim’s memory without sending flowers please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Society or Stedman Hospice as suggested by our family.
