Helen Bemrose - Obituary - Northwest Ontario

February 20, 1928 – May 18, 2026

Helen Bemrose’s family is heartbroken to share that she passed away at Pioneer Ridge, surrounded by her dear niece and goddaughter Susan Richards and Susan’s husband Richard. Helen kept her sharp mind well into her later years, and thanks to their loving support, she managed to live on her own until she was 95. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom; her parents Stephen Kalik and Mary Shelleski; and her stepfather Mike Shelleski. Also gone before her were her brothers Jacob, Mike, John, and Steve; plus sisters Anne, Marge, and Stella along with their spouses. Helen leaves behind caring nieces Bev Swazey and Jo-Ann Richards as well as many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, plus great-great nieces and nephews. She especially liked visits from her great-nephew Mike and Cindy along with great-great-nephew Colton Richards – they always made her smile. The family extends a big thank you to the staff at Plaza 4 in Pioneer Ridge for the kind care they gave Aunt Helen these past three years. As Helen wished, she has been cremated and a private family burial will happen later.
