September 10, 1947 – March 7, 2026
We’re sad to share that Heather Violet Scarcello (nee Maule), aged 78, passed away quietly at home on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Heather came into this world on September 10, 1947 in Oshawa, Ontario to William and Bessie (nee Smith) Maule. After moving to Thunder Bay, she worked in housekeeping at the City-run Homes for the Aged and was also involved with the Union. She really enjoyed her work and all the friends she made along the way. Heather met Robert “Bob” Scarcello – her soulmate – and they got married on July 8, 1985. Together they traveled widely; some of their favorite destinations were Australia, New Zealand and Cuba. Heather had a fondness for antiquing and gardening, plus she collected chef figurines enthusiastically. She loved animals deeply and spent quiet moments playing Solitaire on her i Pad. Celtic Women and Celtic Thunder music groups were among her favorites too. Heather served as Secretary Treasurer for the Thunder Bay Railway Historical Society. Her kindness and warmth won’t be forgotten, and we’ll always hold onto those memories.
She leaves behind her husband of 41 years Bob Scarcello; sons John Cross and Will Cross; grandson Eric Mc Lolumbine; brother Tom Maule along with niece Isabella Maule. Also surviving are brothers-in-law Tom (Sherry), David (Debbie), Don (Lea) Scarcello plus many extended family members and her dear dog Maggie.
Heather was preceded in death by her parents William and Bessie Maule; brother Bill Maule; sister-in-law Helga Maule.
Cremation has been completed with a Celebration of Life planned for a future date. If you’d like to honor Heather’s memory with a donation, contributions to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society, Canadian Cancer Society or any charity close to your heart would be appreciated.
The arrangements are being handled by Westfort Chapel located at 420 West Gore Street at James.
