DeRUYTE, Marjorie (Reed) - Obituary - Sault Ste. Marie

It’s with heavy hearts that Marjorie De Ruyte (Reed)’s family shares news of her sudden passing on March 10, 2026, at St. Michael’s Hospital. She was 76 years old.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Benedictus “Dick” De Ruyte. She leaves behind her children Angela De Ruyte and Michael (Kimberly) De Ruyte. She was a proud grandma to Cameron, Adam, and Chelsea – who all called her “Gma” with lots of love. Her mother Norma Reed survives her; sadly, her father James Reed passed before her. Also mourning are her siblings Nancy (Ernie) Johnson, Vickie Lapiere-White, Randall (Lisa) Reed, and Gary Reed along with many nieces and nephews.

For many years Marjorie lived in Echo Bay, Ontario and took an active role in the Faith Baptist Church community there. Her faith meant a lot to her and you could always count on seeing her involved and present at church events. Friends like Bev Wood, Deb and Mike Johnson plus many others from the church will miss her a lot.

She’ll be remembered for being kindhearted and generous – always ready to help or support those around her whenever they needed it.

Cremation has already been done. A service will take place at Faith Baptist Church in Echo Bay on April 11, 2026 at 1:00 p. m. A Celebration of Life will happen later on.

The family wants to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Michael’s Hospital – especially the team in the Cardinal Carter Wing – for their wonderful care during this time.

If you’d like to honor Marjorie’s memory instead of sending flowers, donations can be made to Faith Baptist Church in Echo Bay or the St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation – Cardinal Carter Wing.

Marjorie will be missed by everyone who knew her. You can leave your condolences online at www. hillsidefuneral. ca
