Clelia Morson - Obituary - Northwest Ontario

October 9, 1919 – March 24, 2026

We’re saddened to share that our dear mom and nonna, Clelia Morson (nee Favret), passed away peacefully at Southbridge Roseview on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. She was surrounded by love from her granddaughter Jennifer Hordy and lived an incredible life of 106 years.

Clelia was born in Bannia, Italy in 1919 and moved to Canada with her family in 1950. They made their home in the East End of Thunder Bay. She spent her days raising her family and making sure everyone who dropped by got a warm Italian greeting-coffee, cake, homemade pasta were always ready. When she wasn’t busy cooking or tidying up, she’d sit on her couch crocheting while watching the Italian channel with the sound off. Her Roman Catholic faith was very important to her; she enjoyed going to St Peter’s Church and taking walks along the back lane of Mc Bain Street.

Clelia leaves behind her daughter Cecilia Zuccato (Giovanni) from Mississauga; daughter-in-law Liliana from Italy; grandchildren Lorella (Chantal, Elisa) and Rita (Virginia, Amelia) in Italy; Jerry and Ronnie (Veronica, Madison, Sydney) in Toronto; Aaron and Chelsey (Reilah, Avaiya) in Edmonton; and Jennifer (Gage, Presley) here in Thunder Bay.

She was predeceased by her husband Egisto, son Secondo, daughter Lauretta, and grandson Scott Hordy.

The funeral will be held Monday, March 30, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church located at 615 Connolly Street. Family and friends are welcome to visit starting one hour before the service. A reception will follow at the church. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband and daughter at Mountainview Cemetery.

The family wants to say a big thank you especially to Jennifer for being there with Nonna during her final moments-and for all the love she gave over the years caring for our mom.

We also want to thank Magdalena Vitaskova for helping care for Clelia so she could stay home until age 102-and all the staff at Southbridge Roseview (Heritage) who looked after Nonna so well.

Funeral arrangements have been handled by Westfort Chapel at 420 West Gore Street near James.
