8th August 1982 – 4th March 2026
Brian Edward Arnold’s family sadly shares the news of his passing. Those who knew Brian will remember him for his drive to make things better around him. He was clever, kind, funny, generous, and incredibly loyal. He made lots of friends because you just couldn’t meet Brian without liking him. He was outgoing but also kept parts of himself private. Brian was an enthusiastic Boy Scout and volunteered with the Shebandowan Fire Department – he really wanted to help out. He got so excited when his Toronto Blue Jays made it to the World Series last year and was looking forward to the new season. Writing was a big part of his life – whether songs, poems, or letters, his words were thoughtful and sometimes quite deep. Music meant a lot to him in all kinds of styles. Brian could cook really well and loved trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
After finishing a welding course at Confederation College, he worked in construction with several companies and even ran his own business for a short time. Safety on site mattered a lot to him – he took courses on workplace safety seriously. Over time, he became Health and Safety Manager for large construction firms across Northwestern Ontario, creating programs and earning certifications that helped those companies bid on big public projects. Brian felt proud about these achievements.
Despite all these strengths, he had tough moments too. The loss of his mother and best friend hit him hard. He struggled with health problems but followed his surgeon’s advice by losing weight and quitting smoking successfully – though the pain still didn’t go away. That pain combined with disappointment led into depression, bringing back old struggles after years of managing them well. Sadly this downward spiral ended with his untimely death.
He leaves behind broken hearts: his dad Ken (with Loraine St. Jacques), brother Iain (Kayla), and sister Gillian. Family far away in Northern Ireland, Texas, and Australia are mourning too.
Brian was predeceased by his mom Melinda; grandparents Doris and Ed Daignault from Sioux Lookout; plus Hazel and Brian Arnold from Northern Ireland.
The Funeral Mass celebrating Brian’s life is set for Friday, April 10, 2026 at 10:00 a. m., at St. Andrew’s R. C. Church.
If friends want to donate in Brian’s memory, gifts to the DEK Foundation or Canadian Mental Health Association or any charity you choose would be deeply appreciated.
