We’re sad to share that Wayne Barnard passed away suddenly at his home in Waterloo on Monday, May 4, 2026. He’ll be reunited with his wife and best friend Nancy. Wayne’s mother Helen Barnard (his father Ralph Barnard passed before him) will miss him deeply. He was a loving stepfather to Jeramie King (Thuany Ruotolo) and Sarah Shafer (Adam Bergeron), and a proud grandpa to Jaden. His sister Karen Guitard (Jeff) also survives him.
Wayne is resting at the Gilbert Mac Intyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, located at 1099 Gordon St in Guelph. Family will welcome friends and loved ones for visitation on Sunday, May 17 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will start right after at 2:00 PM in the chapel. Burial in Arkell, Ontario will happen later on.
He made friends everywhere he went – from old hockey buddies to coworkers at Cascade Corporation and Carelift Equipment – plus many friends back home in Sault Ste. Marie and Waterloo.
Wayne was also held dear by his neighborhood “family,” longtime pals from spots he used to hang out at, and those he met while traveling.
