She peacefully passed away on January 22, 2026, surrounded by her caring family.
Christine was born October 12, 1948, in Woodstock, Ontario, to Timothy and Eileen O’Regan.
She is remembered with love by her children: Lori Ellen Dean (Gary Hartman), Leanne Elizabeth Mc Dougall (Ross), and Daniel Ross Dean. Christine was a proud grandma to Donovan, Tyler, Julia, and a great-grandmother to Dustin, Nora, Anakin and Ezra. She also leaves behind her sister Maureen Gould (Peter), brother Dennis O’Regan, along with many nieces and nephews. Her lifelong friend Charlotte Boivin and close friend Fr. Paul Conway will miss her dearly. Many other friends and family-and her beloved cat Zola-will feel her absence as well.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband Dan Dean; parents Timothy and Eileen O’Regan; father-in-law Charles Dean; mother-in-law Minnie Dean; and brother-in-law Peter Gould.
Her life was centered around faith, family, and quiet dedication.
She started out teaching at St. Rita’s School in Woodstock but soon focused on raising their kids-a role she truly embraced with pride. Later on, when the family moved to Windsor and the kids were older,
she began substitute teaching again before spending many years working with the Faculty Association at the University of Windsor where she earned respect for being dependable, kind-hearted, and professional.
A committed member of the Catholic Church, Christine took active roles in the Catholic Women’s League; served as an Eucharistic Minister; led the Marriage Encounter program; plus several other parish duties. Her faith really shaped who she was.
Gardening brought her a lot of joy-she even won an award in Elliot Lake for creating a beautiful backyard garden that felt like a park. She had lots of friends and stayed social through groups like the Red Hat Society, bridge club, and book club. Christine also found fulfillment volunteering at places like the food bank and hospital while serving on different committees. Traveling both near camp spots and faraway places made her happy too-and honestly? She made one heck of a Caesar salad!
The visitation will take place at Elliot Lake Funeral Chapel & Cremation Centre (36 Ontario Avenue) on Wednesday January 28th from 7-9 pm. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for January 29th at 11 am at Paroisse Ste. Bernadette Parish in Elliot Lake followed by a reception in the parish hall.
People will remember Christine for her quiet strength, deep-rooted faith, and strong commitment to family. We’ll miss her presence greatly but keep those memories close always.
