A 53-year-old woman has been charged following two hate-related incidents in Cambridge.
Waterloo regional police say the first event took place on Sept. 30 near Wellington Street and Dundas Street North. The woman reportedly approached a group of girls walking there and shouted racial slurs at them. She drove away before police showed up.
Later that same night, officers got reports about a woman shouting racial insults at people attending a place of worship. Again, she left before the police arrived.
The South Division Neighbourhood Patrol, General Investigations Unit, and Hate Crime Unit all worked together on this case, and on Tuesday they arrested the 53-year-old woman.
She faces two charges of causing a disturbance and one charge of mischief, and she’s set to appear in court soon.
