Public Safety Agencies Receive Donation of Trouble Dog Stuffed Animals

On November 19, 2025, The Kennek Foundation teamed up with The Stone Family Charitable Foundation to donate 50 Trouble the Dog stuffed animals. These were shared between the Cambridge Police and Fire Departments. First responders will have these toys on hand to give to kids who’ve been through tough times.

Sheila Duncan, who started The Kennek Foundation, set up the donation and personally brought the toys to the Robert W. Healy Public Safety Building. She was welcomed by Police Commissioner Christine Elow, Acting Fire Chief Thomas Cahill, Emergency Communications Director Christina Giacobbe, and other members of Cambridge’s public safety teams. Both Commissioner Elow and Chief Cahill thanked The Stone Family Charitable Foundation and The Kennek Foundation for their kindness, pointing out how much these toys could help children going through hard moments in our community.

Trouble is a super soft keepsake toy made entirely in the United States. It’s meant to comfort kids dealing with “trouble” – whether it’s something big or small. Local and national media have praised Trouble for its goal of supporting children during difficult times.

The Kennek Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that focuses on bringing hope and strength to vulnerable people facing challenges. Sheila Duncan said this donation to Cambridge happened because of a generous gift from Jim Stone and The Stone Family Charitable Foundation. So far, The Kennek Foundation has donated Trouble dogs to over 80 groups nationwide-including many public safety departments, hospitals, and social service organizations.
