Man and dog stabbed during dispute between pet owners in southern Ontario

On Friday night in Cambridge, just west of Toronto, a man and his dog were both stabbed during a fight with another pet owner.

The Waterloo Regional Police said the man only got minor injuries but his dog was seriously hurt. Thankfully, the dog should be okay after treatment.

A 68-year-old man from Cambridge has been charged with assault using a weapon, carrying a weapon for a dangerous reason, and causing injury to an animal, police reported.

The suspect is being held by police while waiting for a bail hearing.

The police mentioned that they got the report on Saturday morning and laid charges soon after.

The argument happened on Friday night at a residence near Harris Street and Maple Ridge Road in this southwestern Ontario city, which has about 140,000 residents.

The disagreement quickly turned violent, resulting in one man and his dog being stabbed.

“Investigators learned that an altercation had taken place during which a dog was stabbed and sustained significant injuries. A male was also stabbed and suffered minor physical injuries,” police said in their statement late Saturday afternoon. “The dog was transported to a local animal hospital and is expected to recover.”
