A 75-year-old woman from Cambridge is now facing serious charges related to a crash that happened back in November.
On Nov 20, just around noon, Waterloo regional police were called to a pedestrian accident near Langs Drive and Industrial Road in Cambridge.
In that incident, a 34-year-old woman from Cambridge was hit by a car. She was taken to the hospital but sadly passed away later.
Police gave an update on Friday saying the driver involved, the 75-year-old Cambridge woman, has been charged with careless driving causing death.
She’s set to appear in court in Kitchener early February.
This news comes shortly after another tragic incident where a three-year-old child was struck and killed by a vehicle in Cambridge, with an adult injured seriously as well.
Mayor Jan Liggett responded to both tragedies by saying the pain people feel this time of year is “unfathomable.”
“Our community is a loving one and grieves today at these needless losses of a small child yesterday and a young mother three weeks ago. We additionally think about the first responders, passersby and others witnessing these horrific events, keeping them in our hearts as well,” she said in the statement.
