It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of a long and full life coming to an end. Our dear mother and Nonni Evelyn passed away quietly at 99 years old. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Renaldo (2020), with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. She was a caring mother to Maria and Vladio (Giampuzzi) and David and Sabrina (Iseppi). A proud Nonni to Alexa, Adam, and Sebastien. Evelyn’s sister Linda Kennedy survives her. Known also as Zia Ev (Eb) to Mary Catherine Kolody (Ray) and Michael Kennedy (Rachel), along with grandnieces Amanda, Alicia, and Joselyn. Her father Isidoro Marcocchio (1991), mother Maria (2006), and brother Tom Marcocchio (2013) passed before her.
Evelyn’s life was shaped by hard work, strong principles, and above all else, love for her family. She raised two children and watched three grandchildren grow up, remembered as a smart, fun-loving mom and Nonni who never stopped being strong. Sharing her talents in landscaping, sewing, painting, decorating, plus a knack for finances-her example showed what it means to live well.
Though nearing 100 years old when she passed, she earned respect from everyone she met. Always curious about the world around her and a great talker on current events. We’ll miss her wise advice and amazing memory so much. Her quick one-liners were famous-they always brought both wisdom and laughs no matter the situation.
Evelyn was also a lively sports fan whenever it came to cheering on her son or grandchildren-a passion lasting more than five decades! She first started cheering at Windsor South Canadians baseball games where her son played. Her cheers got so popular that she had a big sign saying “Way to go Charlie.” That name went out to any player doing something good on the field. Blessed with three fantastic grandkids whom she loved dearly; Evelyn never missed their games-always the loudest cheerleader-and would sneak them some money after each game too. She made sure every child felt like they were stars.
She carried herself through life with pride, strength, determination-and honestly just a real joy for living day by day. Everyone who knew Evelyn will remember how genuine her advice was along with all the love in her words plus stories packed full of common sense.
Special thanks go out to Dr L. Aoun, Dr G Yousif, Dr N Veinberg, Dr Meloche; Tracey P. A., Brittany; plus all nurses on floors one & three at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare for their outstanding care.
