6th LSE-Cambridge Workshop on Political Economy of Türkiye

9-10 July 2026, Cambridge, UK

The European Institute and Contemporary Turkish Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science along with the Department of Land Economy at the University of Cambridge are teaming up to host a workshop about Türkiye’s political economy. You’ll see details on our Upcoming Events pages soon.

The workshop is set for 9-10 July 2026 at the University of Cambridge. We’ll have a keynote from Prof. Melani Cammett (Harvard University), and one of the presented papers will be awarded the “Atakan Yalçın Best Paper Award” by the keynote speaker.

Each paper will have its own discussant, plus there’ll be plenty of time for open discussions. This event is meant to bring researchers and policymakers together to share fresh research and figure out where more study or policy work is needed. Some topics that will be covered include:

Elections, political crises, democracy, and nationalism Inflation, exchange rates, bank credit, systemic risks Political connections, trade, firm performance, urban economics, regional inequality Economics of immigration and demographic transition Educational reforms, family and health policies, and topics in public economics Organising Committee: Orkun Saka (City St George’s & LSE)davide luca
